The Yada River originates in the north of Mt. Hyonosen, flowing through Kami Town to the Sea of Japan. In the terraced rice paddies in Wasabu, water is stored in a basin-like rice paddy surrounded by a bank so as to use a limited water resource efficiently, and to prevent water quickly flowing down, playing a role of disaster prevention. Midori-no-Tawaraishi is used for stone materials because it is finely split into a cylindrical shape like Tawara (a rice bale). The feature of Midori-no-Tawaraishi is its bright color caused by containing much olivine of olive color.
