A Geosite of rural forest on hills of ancient granite from the era when the Japanese archipelago was part of the continent

Mt. Isanago Area
(Mt. Isanago Area)

This Geosite spreads over hills and mountains of granite from the era when the Japanese Archipelago was part of the continent. Weathered granite rocks dissolve into sand, which becomes eroded more easily. The eroded hills become rounder in shape, and fertile plains are formed among the valleys. People have grown rice on these plains. Here you can enjoy the landscape of rural forests from olden times.
